The “Vienna sul Lago” Committee, a no profit organization and regularly constituted and the General Staff of Military Navy organize for years a great event of charity and culture, made of conferences, concerts, visits to cultural places and of a Great Ball. Actually, it lets the young protagonists to carry out educational experiences: in the past years they, besides to attend to conferences held from university professors and famous scientists, had the possibility to visit the Egyptian Museum in Turin, the Museum of Science and the Technique in Milan, the Research Center of the European Union of Ispra etc.
Many are the realized charitable project thanks to the funds raised in the occasion of the Great Ball: air conditioning systems were donated to old people’s homes, to communities for children victims of familiar abuses, to centres of voluntary service associations; in addition, voluntary service agencies were given medical equipments and IT devices, parties and meals have been organized for disabled people, elder and very young people without family. The pride of the event is “Croce Costantiniana Onlus”, an association made of about eighty volunteers engaged in the daily service of ordinary and emergency (118 Aid Support) medical transportation and, in the aid to old single or abandoned, in the civil defence (during the earthquake in Molise and Abruzzo Regions).
In the occasion of the last edition, the President of the Republic, Georgio Napolitano, wanted to award to the event, in acknowledgment of the important charitable projects a
silver medal . The prestigious acknowledgment followed
the Goldene Ehrenzeichen für Verdienste um die Republik Osterreich, granted by the President of the Austria Republic in the occasion of 10th edition.
Due to the considerable work that the organization performs and the charitable initiatives, the event is sponsored by a no profit Committee and the General Staff of Italian Military Navy. It clearly differs from other similar events that take place in Italy: the “Vienna sul Lago" enjoys the prestigious patronage of the Council of Ministers, of the Defense, Foreign Affairs and Cultural Heritage Ministries, of the Piemonte Region, of the Austrian Embassies in Italy and Holy See , of the City of Vienna.
In occasion of the 15th edition the Committee organizes “Il Gran Ballo della Venaria Reale”, the most important Ball in Italy, and hence, one of the most important Ball in Europe, for Turin and Novara families in serious economic difficulty. To these families Croce Costantiniana Onlus Volunteers deliver, in Turin through “Centro di Solidarieta’ della Compagnia delle Opere”, the food aid that will be gathered with the funds raised from the ball.
